Beyond Resilience: Strategic Adaptability

2027 Case Conference

Call for Teaching Cases

June 21–22, 2027  •  Lima, Peru

The International Food and Agribusiness Management Association is committed to developing and showcasing excellence in case study writing, teaching, and application. Cases serve as powerful learning tools in both academic and corporate settings, enabling problem-solving and knowledge transfer across all levels of agri-food management.

You are invited to submit teaching case study proposals for participation in the IFAMA 2027 World Conference in Lima, Peru, June 20–25, 2027.

IFAMA Academic Symposium presentation

Case Conference

The Case Conference track of IFAMA’s Academic Symposium targets a broad audience of professionals interested in developing effective food and agribusiness cases and using them as learning tools, as well as those interested in the specific case topics discussed. The Teaching Case Workshops will feature “highlighted cases” designed to provide constructive feedback to writers on their cases and discussion leadership skills. By modeling the case discussion process, we hope to inspire others to write and use cases (and the case discussion method) in their classes and professional development activities.

Teaching Cases may cover any topic of managerial relevance to the global agri-food system, but preferably relate to one of the IFAMA 2027 themes, which explore interdisciplinary, collaborative, talent-focused, and locally connected solutions.

Teaching Case Selection Criteria

01
Interest and relevance of the topic to food and agribusiness managers.
02
The problems, issues, and decisions presented in the case are controversial and not trivial.
03
The case is written from the perspective of a specified protagonist (manager/decision maker) who must make an important decision or take some course of action.
04
The case includes enough pertinent background information (supported by data and assumptions) to analyze and diagnose the problem and allow students to propose different alternatives and to choose and support one of those alternatives.
05
A separate teaching note accompanies the case. The teaching note should provide teaching objectives and an outline of a class session, including the opening question, discussion points, and transition questions. The teaching plan may include a literature review if desired.
06
The case is well-written using clear and concise language, an easy-to-follow structure, and appropriate supporting data.
07
Each year IFAMA “showcases” the best teaching cases that demonstrate innovative business strategies and illustrate how to use the case method process effectively.

The case is limited to no more than 12 pages (single spaced), plus supporting documents and a title page, an abstract (140 words max), and up to 5 key words.

Do not list authors on the paper as they are recorded elsewhere in the Submittable system.

Teaching Notes are typically not larger than the case.

Please number the pages in the top right corner and provide the paper title on each page in the top header.

Please refer to the International Food and Agribusiness Management Review (IFAMR) Case Study Submission Guidelines, as a reference.

For the teaching note instructions please refer to the IFAMR Guidelines for Writing Teaching Notes. See examples of other Teaching Cases published by the IFAMR.
