GUIDELINES FOR AIRMEET
The IFAMA 2021 World Conference uses both the Whova and Airmeet software platforms to provide the full conference experience. Whova manages the conference agenda, and provides livestreaming and pre-recorded video which you can access on your phone, tablet, or laptop. You can peruse the sessions and create your own personal agenda, learn about the speakers, and connect with other attendees. You can get up-to-date announcements about sessions, participate in and/or start hot topic discussions, visit exhibitor booths, and engage in live polls. It is seamlessly integrated with Zoom which is used to stream the academic sessions. For information on the Whova app, see our Guidelines for Whova page. Airmeet allows you to network with colleagues, meet in small groups at virtual tables to engage, discuss, and interact with each other, or jump into 1-on1 speed-meeting networking sessions and attend live Forum sessions. Please make sure to use the same e-mail address you used during registration for both Whova and Airmeet, in order to have a seamless conference experience! USING AIRMEET All of the conference academic sessions will occur through Zoom. But for networking purposes, IFAMA has elected to pair Whova with immersive software called Airmeet in order make the virtual networking experience more meaningful. Airmeet works on all modern-day browsers and does not require that you to download the software or extensions. But, for the best experience, it’s highly recommended that use Chrome or Microsoft Edge. Airmeet can be accessed on a mobile browser in a non-interactive mode where several of the Airmeet features cannot be accessed. So for best experience, please use a desktop or laptop with a stable Internet connection. More information on mobile use is available here for iPhone, for Android. After you are registered for the conference and have downloaded the Whova app, you will find the private link provided in the Whova app to access our Airmeet social lounge; we are calling this area our Conference Café. The first time you visit this link you will enter your name and email to create an account. You can do this at your convenience, or the first time you enter Airmeet for a session. Once you enter the Café you can join other participants who are already seated at virtual tables, and interact with people at the same table. You also have the ability to move between tables and join other discussions at other tables at any time. Another feature available in the Café is to join in a 2 minute 1:1 meet up that will pair with other participants who have also selected that option. Most of the Special Sessions during the conference will be live streamed from the Airmeet platform so prior to the start each of these session you will be prompted to enter Airmeet and the Conference Café where you can connect with participants before the live stream begins. TECHNICAL CONSIDERATIONS If you find yourself frequently getting disconnected try the following:
ADDITIONAL FEATURES IN AIRMEET What is the "Raise Hand" icon symbol? Participants can interact, ask questions, and share ideas with speakers via the “Raise Hand” feature. The host controls this interaction. The host receives participants’ requests and hands the mic to participants to join the speaker on the stage. Other participants get to see the video of the participant on stage with the speaker. Participants then leave the stage after the interaction. What are the other different ways to interact at the event?
